Heat Stop II refractory mortar is often used in the installation or repair of high-temperature resistant firebrick and masonry in bread or pizza ovens, boilers, fireplaces, flues, furnaces, incinerators, kilns, and wood stoves. It is fire-resistant, non- water soluble and may be used in exterior applications. Resists temperatures to 2,500 degrees. Combine Heat Stop II dry mix refractory mortar with clean, cold water for masonry applications. Meets all state and national building codes, including A.S.T.M. C-199. You will need approximately 50 lbs. of product to lay up 100 firebrick (2 1/2" thick bricks), assuming a joint thickness of 1/16" to 1/8", which is recommended. Joint thickness up to 1/2" is acceptable. (This product is similar to Heat Stop 50 but in a smaller container.)
Add clean water (approximately 3/4 to 1 quart) for each 10 lbs. and mix thoroughly. No other additives required. Cold water works best. Warm water quickens set time. Do not remix or retemper this product as you would with a regular mortar.
